Yes, I know, that is a crazy thing to love to do, to most people. I know there are a few other people out there like me, and some of them are also creative, so I’m not as big of a freak as you might think. Contrary to popular belief, artist’s do like to have clean spaces, otherwise they can’t find anything. I know this to be true because Brandon, who is one of the messiest people I know, will spend a day cleaning out his studio every couple of months. Now if only he would wash the dishes all on his own!
Anywho, so I wanted to clean something. More specifically, I wanted to somehow reconfigure our computer table. Its been exactly the same way since we moved in. And it is covered in cat hair, since Cassady loves to sit on top of the shelf above the monitor, and she is a big ball of shed.
So I started. I pulled all the papers of the desk. Then unhooked the printer and scanner and moved them, then I moved the shelf thing from around the screen (it was built to fit over our old tv, but the screen fit perfectly inside of it so when we moved it became the computer stuff shelf). The shelf was moved to the side of the desk against the other wall, and the printer was put inside where the screen used to be, and the scanner moved on top of it. This was where I ran into trouble.
The trouble was that now that all that stuff (which had always bugged me before the way it was configured) was in a place where it wasn’t in the way, the computer screen (about 10 years old, 16 inches wide) became this huge, ugly box in the middle of the table. HUGE. UGLY. MIDDLE. It didn’t work. And it has always hurt my sensitive eyes, and the sun coming in the windows shining on it made it impossible to see. Do you see where I am going? I’m heading into money spending territory.
Because, you see, to make my new kick-ass computer station, kick-ass, I needed a new flat panel monitor. It would take up less space, wouldn’t hurt my eyes, and well, be prettier. I made a few calls, but apparently geeks haven’t outgrown their first flat panel screens yet so there weren’t any just sitting around. I was going to have to buy one.
So I did. I went off to fred meyer (because that is where people who don’t care so much about brand names but do care about price shop) and picked up a brand new 19 inch, widescreen monitor. And a half gallon of milk. And its perfect, and I installed it myself. Yay me. I’d post a picture, but Brandon has the camera. It looks pretty slick though, cause its all black, and the speakers and the keyboard next to it are all black. I feel high tech, or like I’m in a spy movie.
Now I am happy, and am blogging about this on this shiny (actually its matte) new screen, instead of on Rosebud (the laptop) that’s how happy I am! And Rosebud is my preferred blogging computer! Hope she doesn’t get jealous!
