Iris manned the BBQ (as the reigning queen of the grill), and made the greatest potato salad in the world (key word: bacon), Christina (as usual) made my cake, and this year it was in the shape of chicken! I wish I had a picture to post, but alas, the photos of the cake were not taken with my camera. We grilled hot dogs and veggie kabobs. The hot dogs were because they are easy and hey, who doesn’t love dogs? I strolled around graciously and accepted birthday congratulations… I mean I ran around and grabbing things that needed grabbing, gave tours to those in need, and generally talked to everyone for about five minutes, forgot to eat, drank a little to much and basically had the best birthday time ever. It was kind of like a dream party, nobody was awkward, I got to see some people I hadn’t seen in a long time, saw some people I had seen that afternoon, and everyone got along great!
Speaking of dogs, it was a total dog party. Marcus had almost all of his friends there: Rosie (his girlfriend), Lukas, Leafis, and his newest dog buddy: Ruby (shes my dear little puppy niece, I’ve watched her in my booth every weekend since she was six weeks old and she is now almost five months). Ruby is the cutest little American Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier (whew, a mouthful, I know) that you have ever seen, but because of her coloring everyone thinks shes a boxer. I adore this baby dog, so its a good thing Marcus isn’t the jealous type. They all ran and played and sniffed stuff, and there were no fights, not even a snap. Good dogs.
As for the people, I had a great mix of friends there. I had old friends and OLD (their words, not mine) friends, my parents, Saturday Market friends, Art School friends, and neighbors. They all mixed and mingled and gave themselves house tours. Senna and Val brought our new favorite party game “snaketoss” and it was not left alone from the time it got there until about one in the morning. They played by christmaslight. And everyone showed up with something to drink. All the food got eaten (yes!) and when time came to tidy up the next day, I had a recycling bin full of undrunken beer. Who could ask for a better after party surprise?
And best of all, the loft is no longer a virgin! Senna and Val slept up there, so it has now officially held overnight guests! Val crept up there when no one was looking and fell asleep, it was a good half hour before anyone noticed she was gone… I love having a whole other room people can disappear into when they are tired! The party was officially a great one, since not only did they spend the night, Wilder and Christina fell asleep OUTSIDE on the daybed on the back porch. I just threw some blankets over them and called it good.
Here some pictures of the party:
In daylight and then in the dark.
Neelam, Rasa, Charlie, and Randal probably taking about home buying, alot of those cats are looking to buy houses right now. I think Neelam was asking advice, anyway, they look like they are having fun!
Marcus, Lukas and Ruby running around. Lukas and Ruby wrestled for freaking hours man.
Chris with the Snaketoss game. I’d explain it here, but well, the rules change. Basically you throw golf balls attached by string onto that pipe contraption there and you get points if it gets stuck. It really is fun. The redhead is Erica, the leather jacket is Ben, hes talking to Brian, an the glasses is Leah, and the back is Richard. They are all Market Folk like me.

Here’s Brandon taking to Bobby’s girlfriend Bobbie (no joke!) I believe that Bobby himself took this and many of these pictures, thank you Bobby!
Here’s Val who had been asleep until Bobby decided to take a picture of her. Hey, notice my awesome drapes and light in my loft!

And this is what happens to Marcus after a few drinks. He starts dressing up all funny and making us take pictures of him. He thanks Senna for giving him his first smoke…
And what could be more thug than this picture?
