Etsy update!

Hey all, I just added some “whimsys” (as Anisa has named them) to my etsy store. I think I may start putting random art things on there when I make them. Who knows, I have such mixed feelings about the Etsy. Mostly I think its a good thing, its just so big you get lost in it! Anyway, go check them out.

Oh, whimsys are little found object tabletop sculptures. I make them out of teacups, saucers, and glass drink cups, and they are topped by a cute little animal. Usually a saltshaker or a weird decorative sculpture found at the goodwill. Or garage sales. I LOVE them, hopefully other people besides me and Anisa will too.

Check them out! click on the etsy link at the side of the page!

A bit o’ this, a bit o’ that

Happy Holidays everyone! I love this time of year so much, even though its my busiest from a business standpoint, and a social one! Yikes! Already this morning I had to deal with a store that is waiting (patiently, I hope) for their order of Pendants that I can’t send until I receive an order of chain, which I now believe to be lost in the mail, since it never takes a full week for my orders to arrive from this company. I now have to head into town to find the same chain but not for wholesale prices (ouch!) so that I can overnight the order to her for the weekend!

But thats just what happens this time of year. Its okay. I got to bake cookies last night, and a few days ago some friends of mine were in town and we decorated my Christmas tree. Its about four feet tall, vintage, and white. I love it, it looks great with colored lights and covered in mostly glass ornaments. I’m a sucker for vintage and new glass ornaments. My wonderful Mother always finds the best ornaments for me and Brandon for Christmas! Here’s the tree below, I tried to get a good picture of it with the flash off, but it just came out red.

You can kind of see Cassady’s face poking out from under the tree. Its her favorite spot this time of year, and it always makes me no end of nervous, but she doesn’t bother the tree, she just hides under it. Weirdo, what kind of cat doesn’t bat at ornaments?

And here are a few of my new Whimsys for Makool Loves You. Anisa hasn’t picked them up yet on account of being in Hawaii for Thanksgiving. Hope she had a great time, I haven’t talked to her yet! Check out the little brass bow on the turtle’s head.

And these two are circus performers. They each have tiny birds to deliver messages to one another while working.
And this little snaily guy reminds me of the blue inchworm in Labyrinth. He’s sitting in a soap dish my friend Dorothy got out of her new old house. It came with a bar of Cold Cream Soap. No joke, I had never seen cold cream soap before, but I’ve heard about old ladies and their cold cream for years.
And here are the beautiful stairs to the loft! (Marcus is wagging his tail in his sleep by the fire right now, its so cute.) Takes a little getting used to going up and down them, but I am getting pretty fast. We should be starting on the dormer perhaps as soon as next week, because what would make this month less busy than adding in some home improvement projects?

Okay, gotta run and take a shower. Happy Holidays folks!

Papaver on Makool Loves You!

So I made some little animal friends for my friend Anisa’s online store last week. Shes only been asking me for them for a year! Sometimes it takes a while for my inspiration to strike. Also, sometimes it takes a while for all the pieces to come together, and well, my little critter whimseys take alot of pieces of things to make! I need to have alot of tiny things to choose from to make something. Nothing is better than having a work table full of assorted junk (mismatched dishes, trim, buttons, gitter, and knick knacs to name some junk) to make a treasure out of!

So Makool Loves You has some critters. Two cats, a deer, and a dog. Doug Dog, in fact, and he is a digger! To learn more about them, and see alot of great pictures of them, visit www.makoollovesyou.com. They are listed under animal friends. And while you are there, check out her birdies, they are adorable, and also incidentally, all sold. I will be making more animals as supplies become available, right now i have half finished: a pair of circus performers, an adorable pink and blue turtle, and a golden snail with purple rhinestone eyes.

She is also trying out a tiny bit of jewelry. I’m planning on making some more, one-of-a-kind jewelry for Makool too, something a bit old-fashioned and a little bit macabre…just what she wants!

So check out Makool Loves You! Its awesome!
